TRAIL RIDING:
The following locations are very popular in the Tri-Cities area: Ayers Road (Finley), Madame Dorian Park (Wallula), W.E. Johnson Park (Richland), Badger Mountain (Richland), Juniper Dunes (outside Pasco), Horn Rapids Park (Richland), Red Mountain (Richland), and Wahluke Slope/Hanford Reach (Richland).
Backcountry Horsemen of Washington
There are several Backcountry Horsemen of Washington chapters in the Tri-Cities area that offer horseback trail riding opportunities:
- Purple Sage Riders (PSR) – Tri-Cities
- Rattlesnake Ridge Riders (RRR) – Benton City
Horseback Trail Riding – Umatilla National Forest
The Umatilla National Forest offers a variety of trail systems for back-country horse riding. To avoid encounters with motorized travelers, check out their trails in any of the designated Wilderness Areas located on the Forest. Note: The Pomeroy Ranger District and Walla Walla Ranger District are the closest to the Tri-Cities.
Red Mountain Trails – Guided Horseback Trail Rides
Red Mountain Trails offers guided horseback trail rides through the vineyards on Red Mountain. They offer trail rides on weekends, holidays, and by appointment. They even have sunset rides for couples.

RIDING CLUBS:
Central Washington Pony Club
The Central Washington Pony Club is dedicated to the enjoyment of riding and driving ponies. They are a family-oriented organization that emphasizes safety, learning and fun in a supportive atmosphere. They consider equines at 14.2 hh and shorter to be ponies – breed registry not required.
Franklin County Saddle Club
The Franklin County Saddle Club is a non-profit organization that was established to promote the association of horsemen desiring to advance the interest of good horsemanship and to support youth interest in horsemanship.
Purple Sage Riders & Rattlesnake Ridger Riders
Both the Purple Sage Riders and Rattlesnake Ridger Riders are chapters of the Backcountry Horsemen of Washingtion that participate in horseback trail riding opportunities.
Rascal Rodeo
The Rascal Rodeo is a non-profit organization that produces exceptional rodeos with real life cowboys & cowgirls sharing the adrenaline rush & sense of accomplishment of the western way of life with special athletes who fight battles in a different arena.
Richland Riders Club
The Richland Riders Club was formed in 1949. Members of the club sponsor, organize and host equestrian events for riders in the Tri-Cities area including dressage shows, jumping shows, schooling shows, fun shows, and clinics.
Sequins & Spurs Equestrian Drill Team
The Sequins & Spurs Equestrian Drill Team is a group of gals of all ages dedicated to horses, each other, and having fun! They compete in the Washington Ladies Riding Club Association (WLRCA) events and practice at the Richland Rider’s Club on Tuesday evenings.
Tri-City Barrel Racing Association
The Tri-City Barrel Racing Association promotes the sport of barrel racing in the area. The association hosts barrel races every other Wednesday starting mid March until early October.
Two Rivers Riding Club
The Two Rivers Riding Club is a family club that enjoys doing things together with their horses. Their focus is on horsemanship, riding activities and the betterment of their families and youth.
